Whether you are looking for a quick cook after a long day’s work or simply in the mood for green beans, this would be a perfect dish to prepare. Due to it’s simplicity, this is considered one of the easiest dishes worthy of  dinner.  Although this also works for canned green beans, cooking green beans straight from the market would always provide a delightful crisp and freshness you deserve.

For preparation which roughly takes around 10 to 15 minutes. Do the following in sequence:

      1. Wash green beans thoroughly and drain them, I suggest to do this step 3 times.
      2. Chop the green beans into three parts of equal size. Then submerge them into water. You would like to drain the water right before you cook them for added freshness.
      3. Peel the onion, wash and slice it into half. Then, slice it into thin strips. Set it aside.
      4. Peel garlic cloves then mince them. Set it aside.
      5. Chop your pork into thin slices preferably half an inch.
      6. Prepare your wok.

Side note: whenever I have time. I often want all my ingredients prepared before cooking. If you are on a rush, you can try to mix the sequence up a bit by doing some preparation items in-between cooking. You could try to experiment with the sequence only if you have done this dish before. It saves around 5 minutes.

      Steps

      1
      Done
      1 minute

First pre-heat the wok for around 1 minute then add the oil.

Throw in the sliced pork meat, sear it a bit then mix. After around 5 minutes or once your meat is lightly golden brown proceed to the next step.

      2 minutes

Move your pork away from the center of the wok then add a bit of oil onto the center. Throw in the garlic lightly cooked then add the onions, mix them separately from the pork. Mix them with the pork. Stir fry for 2 minutes.

At this point, drain your green beans. Then add it into the wok.

      5
      Done
      30 seconds

Add Soy Sauce then stir fry for around 30 seconds. At this point, you have two options for your finishing moves. See Steps 6 and 7.

      Done
      3 minutes

FIRST OPTION: (What most people prefer)

If you want it stir fried with bit crisp and just slightly cooked, continue stir frying for another 3 minutes, add the salt and pepper, occasionally tasting your beans for your desired consistency. Then serve!

      7
      Done
      4 minutes

SECOND OPTION: (Featured Image was cooked this way)

If you want your beans well cooked and a bit tender, add half a cup of water then cover the wok. After around 1 minute, add salt and pepper to taste, mix, then cover the wok for another 3 mins. At this point, because you added water and covered the wok it is usually well cooked and ready to serve!
